District Governor
Alton A Miller, Jr.
District Governor 2011-12
Lion Alton Miller, District Governor of District 24-D, lives in Virginia Beach. Lion Al has been a Lion for thirty-two years with perfect attendance. He was previously with the Thalia Lions Club and five years ago formed a new club, the Virginia Beach Central Club. He has served as president three times, first vice president, second vice president, third vice president, secretary, treasurer for three years, tail twister, director and many other committees. He recruited forty of the new members that Chartered the Virginia Beach Central Lions Club.
Lion Al has served the District as First andSecond Vice District Governor, Region III chairperson, Zone F Chairperson, and Public Relations/Lions Information Chairperson. Lion Al has served on the board of the Lions Charity Foundation of District 24-D. He has sponsored three Youth Exchange events and hosted twenty plus students. Lion Al received the Lions Clubs International Third Place "We Serve 2004-2005" Banner for "Best Membership Recruitment Ideas". Lion Al has received Lion of the Year, many Proud Sponsors, President Excellence award, 25 Member Key (has recruited over 75 new Lions), District awards and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He is a Certified Guiding Lion and received the District 24-D Membership Award for 2005-06.
Lion Al is a retired lab manager and is a contractor of many services. He enjoys Lions, travel, helping the less fortunate and photography. Lion Al has three daughters, three grandsons and three granddaughters. His significant other of sixteen years is Patricia and she has a son and a granddaughter.

Stanley Furman
First Vice District Governor
Lion Stanley Furman, First Vice District Governor of District 24-D, Lives in Virginia Beach.
Lion Stanley was a member of the Little Creek Lions Club for 18 years, with 14 years perfect attendance. He served as Tail Twister 1971-72, President 1975-76, and Treasurer 1978-80. Lion Stanley joined the Thalia Lions Club in 2003 where he has perfect attendance since joining. He has served the Thalia club as President 2006-07 and Tail Twister 2008-2010. Lion Stanley has brought in 8 members and holds a Membership Advancement Key.
Lion Stanley has been awarded Lions International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation. He is a recipient of Proud Lion and Proud Sponsor Awards. Lion Stanley has been awarded the Lion of the year Award from his club and he is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
Lion Stanley has served the District as Second Vice District Governor 2010-11, LOVF Representative 2007-08, and Zone E East Chairman 2009-10. He was elected to the Board of the Lions Charity Foundation of District 24-D in 2009. Lion Stanley is a graduate of the Lions Regional Leadership Institute in 2009.
Lion Stanley is retired from his own retail business, and has been married to Lion Jeri 45 Years and they have three children and eight grand children. Donnie Johnson Second Vice District Governor
Second Vice District Governor

Lion Donnie became a Lion in 1984 when he joined the Oceanside Lions Club. He was President of the Oceanside Lions Club twice and received Lion of the Year and a Melvin Jones Fellow Award while with that club. In 2001 he transferred to the Aragona-Pembroke Lions Club in Virginia Beach. He has served that club as the President several times and as Treasurer for several years.
He was appointed as Chairman of Parades and Floats during PDG Richard Boone's year as our District Governor. He put together a crew and entered our District in competitions throughout our District and took our District Float to Philadelphia in 1996 and won First Place in the International Parade.
He has been a Zone Chairman several times, Region Chair several times, and served our District as the Cabinet Secretary in 2009-2010. Over the years Lion Donnie has received many awards for his service from the District Governors and has served our District well. He has personally sponsored 5 new Lions including his father and wife Christine. He has two children Ben and Tiffany and is currently employed at the Virginia Employment Commission where he has worked since 1980. His hobbies are his motorcycle and singing karaoke.

Lion Barbara lives in Portsmouth.
Lion Barbara is a member of the Western Branch Lions Club. She was Charter President in 1992 and sixteen years as the club secretary/treasurer as well as chairing other committees with perfect attendance. She has been active in Lionism for twenty-six years starting as a charter member of the Western Branch Lioness Club.
Secretary Barbara has served the District as District Governor, cabinet secretary four times, editor of the district directory 15 years, Governor’s Ball, bulletin (2 times) and photo-screener (5 years) chairperson. She was president of the District Charity Foundation, is president of the Lions of Virginia Foundation, on the board of the VA Lions Hearing Foundation, the Lions Sight & Hearing Unit, the Charity Foundation “Bid n’ Buy” fund raiser and a volunteer at the Portsmouth Public Library.
Lion Barbara has received the Lion of the Year award, sixteen 100% Secretaries awards, a 100% Treasurers award, Proud Lion, President Excellence Awards, Distinguished Service Awards, 25 Year Charter Monarch, twelve District Governors’ Appreciation Awards, a Progressive Lions of Virginia Distinguished Humanitarian award, a Progressive Good Samaritan Fellowship, International Presidents’ Certificates of Appreciation, International President Award, and is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
Lion Barbara is a retired educator. She has been married to PCC Clayt’- for 51 years and has a son, two daughters and two grandsons. She enjoys the Norfolk Tides, reading, photography, genealogy and collecting Lions pins.

Sol Sherfey
Cabinet Treasurer
Solomon "Sol" Sherfey, of Suffolk, Virginia, is the Cabinet Treasurer and is a member of the Smithfield Lions Club.
Lion Sol has been in Lions since 2003 and has been very active in both his club and the district. He has been served as club president twice, first vice- president, secretary for five years, webmaster, tail twister and as a member of the club board of directors.
Lion Sol has served as district membership chair and Zone G chair, and is currently serving as the IT chair and in his third year as district webmaster. He has also served the Lions Mobile Sight & Hearing Unit as it's President, member of the board, Van & Building Engineer, webmaster, and driver - he really likes serving on the S&H Van!
He has received numerous awards in his eight years as a Lion, and is a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Lion Sol retired from service as a Submarine Warfare Officer in the US Navy in 1995, and is currently employed as a Project Scientist at the Virginia Modeling Analysis and Simulation Center in Suffolk. He is married to Lion Linda, has one daughter Joanna and five grandchildren ranging from 6 to 25 years of age.
Immediate Past District Governor Donna Weiler. 24D IPDG 2011-2012 Lion Donna Weiler, Immediate Past District Governor for District 24-D, lives in White Stone and is a member of the Richmond County Lions Club. Lion Donna has been a Lion since November 1997 with perfect attendance and has sponsored twenty people into Lions. She was a member of the Lancaster County Lions Club before becoming a charter member of the Richmond County Lions Club. She has served a president twice, and club secretary for ten years. IPDG Donna has served the District 24-D as the Governor, First Vice District Governor, Region Chairman and the chairman of Membership, State Convention, international convention, historian, and Journey for Sight. Additionally she has been on the board of directors of the Lions Medical Eye Bank and LOVF. Lion Donna is currently on the board of directors for the VA Hearing Foundation and the Lions Eyeglass Recycling, Inc. in Roanoke. Lion Donna has been recognized by Lions Clubs International and presented with the International President's Medal, International President's Leadership Medal and three International President's Certificates of Appreciation. In addition she has earned the President's Excellence Award and the 100% Secretaries Award. District Governor Donna has received a Ten Member Builders Key, two New Club Extension Awards, two District Governor's Appreciation Awards, three District Governor's Service and Quality Leadership Medals and the MD-24 Council of Governor's Medal. She was a Moderator at the USA Canada Forum in Portland, Oregon. Lion Donna is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, and in 2001 she received a Kentucky Colonel and an Arkansas Traveler for her humanitarian efforts.
